Detox/Cleanse is basically you cleaning your house; mind, body and spirit. The benefits of detox/cleanse are both physical and spiritual. Physically, fasting detoxifies the body, clears the skin and helps to overcome bad habits, cravings and addictions, just to name a few. Spiritually, fasting re-births and regenerates our spiritual will power.
• Mini-fast (1-day fasts) – you may do a couple of mini-fast a few days before to get you in the right frame of mind. • Create a schedule - create a schedule ahead of time before the week of the fast and fill it with things to preoccupy you with while fasting (reading a new book, keep a journal of your cleansing experiencing, take a walk in a park, visit a museum, see a movie, a periodic nap, learn to meditate…).
Don't schedule to meet your friends at a restaurant...bad idea!
• Get rid of unwanted foods that may tempt you days leading up to the fast, You should start to clean out the fridge and cabinets from foods that may cause you to cheat. Stock the fridge and cabinets with foods and drinks you will need during your fast. This one may be difficult to do if you have a family. Let them know ahead of time of your plans and ask for their blessings and support.
• Schedule a massage ahead of time for the week of the fast. This is a very relaxing treat. Try to schedule massages in the evening so you can go right to sleep after the therapist is done. Massages help the body to get rid of waste and toxins.
• Have plenty of water available to drink.

Simple Green Smoothie - 2 12 oz servings
1 cup unsweetened apple juice
1/2 cup raw kale
1 medium apple
2 medium frozen bananas
